YEE-HAW!

Another find!

I have been tempted many times to buy a rocking horse for Eliza and Ethan.
In fact before Christmas I was thinking I would make that their "BIG" gift from Santa.....until I went looking around for one and discovered how expensive they were! I mean come on.... I don't think a real horse even costs that much (just kidding!)
So during Christmas break the whole family went to our local thrift (which is quite unusual because DH says he can't stand thrift stores, "they are like hospital's, they stink!")
Together as a family we went to the outdoor area and discovered this little pony just shivering from the cold. I ran to the Mare and asked Cowboy John if he had a sugar cube so I could feed this cold Beauty. As Cowboy John pulled a sugar cube out of his....ok...ok.....lest I diverge from the real story... on with the thrifting adventure!

The only problem with the rocking horse was there wasn't a price tag anywhere to be seen. At this point DH was "done" and ready to go. I grabbed the horse by the reigns and decided to see how much this Little Darlin' was going to cost me. On the way to the register I was calculating how much I would buy Him for... no more than five, ten, twenty? I asked the very, very sweet woman at the register how much this Stallion was going to cost and the words that came out of her mouth were so BEAUTIFUL. "How 'bout $2." I practically yelled, "SOLD" and threw the money at her!
Needless to say...the Mare, Stallion, Little Darlin'......whatever you want to call her has a good home. She is watered, fed sugar cubes all day by Cowboy John and goes on long rides with Eliza and Ethan!
Happy Thrifting!

Emily,
I am very sorry, but thrifting terrifies me. I can't stop wondering about where the item has been...what if someone really germy owned it?

You have found some great finds! I think it's a talent. It seems like you also have to go when you aren't looking for anything specific, because that's when you hit the jackpot! The kids grandma splurged and got our kids one of those expensive riding horses. It's big too, so it's still at grandma's house until we have more room!

Yes, I once was terrified by thrifting. I'm a Germ-A-Phobe. I quickly overcame those feelings when I discovered my first thrift that I sold for $$.
I have a painstaking process of sanitizing all that is purchased. It involves gloves, bleach, fire, alcohol and lets not forget the decompression chamber. err...maybe I don't use all of those, but you get the idea?
Loves, Emily

What a beautiful rocking horse! Did you refinish it? How exciting for the grandkids! Now I need to get them hats and boots, and maybe some spurs. Get them ready for the real things. Lots of love! HUGS
