Remembering

September 11, 2001.

October 2001 DH and I visited NYC.

DH purchased the tickets many months before the attacks happened. We thought of not going, but decided to go.

When we visited Ground Zero I was in shock. I remember seeing the "seen" on TV, but actually seeing the destruction, the dust, the stillness of the wreckage...was totally shocking.

DH and I brought our camera's to take pictures, but once we got there we couldn't do it.

I truly felt like the place that we were standing was very sacred. I couldn't take any pictures because there was a feeling of reverence and I felt like I needed to preserve that sacredness and reverence by remembering that in my heart.

I have not forgotten that day in September and I will not forget that time in October. I can shut my eyes and see and feel the emotions of those days. I remember.

My Hope is that we all Remember.

Thanks for sharing Emily. No matter how people may feel about other things, like politics, it is certainly essential to remember, and to become better citizens because of our remembrance. Thanks.
