We stopped at the Mormon Trail Center at historic Winter Quarters
today. For me Iowa and Winter Quarters are such a sad and tough time
in the pioneer story because of the hardship experinced. But the hope
and joy come from the covenants they made in the Temple at Nauvoo and
are remembered today by the Temple here in Winter Quarters. In the
Mormon Cemetery over 600 Saints are buried, most of which are
infants. Death hath no sting and Families can be together in heaven
because of the covenants we make in the Temple today. This knowledge
helped them to leave this place and continue on to the Great Salt
Lake, enduring still more trials along the way.
Oh the joy that is felt when we endure to the end and make our way to
Zion following the prophet.
