Potpourri

This is the wonderfully creative DH again. It is fun to make Emily happy and to see the sparkle in her eye. We have been married for almost 6 years now and today I realized the power of roses! I have given Emily roses and other assorted flowers that I had purchased in the past from the florists, but today I used the rose bushes that we have here at home. The best part is that these bushes came with the house and we have not had to do anything to make them look this good.

Well, I realized that in order to get the other buds to bloom I needed to prune the already bursting flowers. So with a couple vases from under the sink and a creative eye, I made these arrangements.

After I had made the arrangements, this is where I went a bit Martha Stewart, I remembered making Potpourri jars as a kid with my Mom. Since there were so many flowers in full bloom I decided to make some potpourri jars for Emily and for gifts. I'm in the drying phase right now. We have red, yellow, pink and purple roses and when they are spread out to dry it makes for a rainbow of colors that is quite pretty.

Can you see how happy Emily is? Our house smells amazing, way better than a flower shop. If you get a chance to stop by, please do, I'm sure Emily doesn't mind sharring.

The pictures are wonderful, how exciting having the roses blooming around the home. Emily looks as beautiful as always too.
On another note, there is always a standing invitation for a BBQ, you know me - I love to cook for my family! :) Can't wait for you all to come visit.
Thanks for sharing the roses.
Love you,
Mom / Nana

Cousin Trisha here: What a sweet idea! Dave always picks bouquets from our garden when the daffodils and tulips come into bloom. But he thinks more along movie lines for romance. He still feels it was romantic to take me to the opening day of Ironman.
